In the 20th presidential election, which one did voters choose between expanding or reducing welfare?
Kang Sang-Jun

Abstract
The act of political choice in the presidential election, and the welfare attitude and ideology that are inherent in it, are important. Nevertheless, there are insufficient studies to analyze welfare attitudes such as welfare expansion, tax cuts, and national responsibility for income inequality. Differences in welfare attitudes according to complex factors such as voters' political choices and ideological tendencies have not been studied relatively well. Therefore, this study conducted a survey on 312 adult men and women over the age of 18 who had the right to vote in the 20th presidential election. Consistency of welfare attitudes inherent in the election results, political choices of voters, and ideological tendencies were analyzed, and the results are as follows. First, the ideological orientation of voters tends to be reinforced conservatively. Second, it was found that the inconsistent group of welfare attitudes gradually increased. Third, the policy factors inherent in welfare attitudes tended to be weakened by other factors. The social implications suggested based on these results are as follows. Welfare attitude should be applied at the policy level and the value of social distribution should be highlighted as a clear proposition. The responsibility and role of the academic field in the civil society field and the political field should be further strengthened at this point.
